The Max Planck Institute of Psycholinguistics acquired Professor Jerome Bruner’s personal library after he died at the age of 100 on June 5, 2016. Meanwhile this Jerome Bruner Library, containing 3300 books, has become fully documented and made available to all interested scholars (see Library, Special collection: The Jerome Bruner Library). The Library will be officially opened during a ceremonial meeting in the afternoon of January 8th, 2020.

The program of the opening has been finalized now. Various speakers will address aspects of the Library and of Jerome Bruner’s intellectual legacy. This meeting is also the first one celebrating the 40th anniversary of Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics, on January 1, 1980. Professor Bruner had played a major role in the establishment of the Institute.
