Rubicon grant for Joe Rodd

Joe Rodd has been awarded an NWO Rubicon grant to spend two years at the Institut für Linguistik - Phonetik of the University of Cologne conducting his research project ‘ Iterated intonation: speakers' biases reveal the phonology of intonation’.
Speakers use different speech melodies to convey meaning in addition to the words they say. But how are these melodies planned and comprehended? This project uses online citizen science to make an inventory of the psychologically relevant speech melodies.
