Behavior labs
The institute has six behavioral labs, all with sound-proof booths. Each booth contains a button box, a monitor, a microphone, a pair of headphones and a keyboard.
One unique feature is the availability of multiple sound-proof booth in one room. The different booth can be linked to allow interactive experiments or the high-fidelity recording of conversations.
By using small DJ mixers, the set-up is flexible and allows the researcher to record stimuli and responses on different devices (on DAT tape or directly on the computer). In conjunction with PRESENTATIONS Sound recording feature, this allows offline analysis of vocal responses, using semi-automatic PRAAT scripts, replacing the notoriously unreliable voicekey.
